Student Advisory Board Charter

Purpose

The Student Advisory Board provides a forum for the student constituency of the Sam M. Walton College of Business, Center for Retailing Excellence to voice their needs and suggestions for programs conducted by the Center to enhance the curriculum of their college education and to impact future planning and decision making of Center initiatives.

Membership Selection Guidelines

The board consists of approximately 10 students representing the diversity of the student body in the Walton College who will serve from the beginning of the fall semester to the end of the spring semester.  Members are selected from nominations of other members, scholarship recipients, and other student associations who have demonstrated an interest and commitment to the success of the Center and its programs.  Membership requirements include an overall G.P.A. of 2.5 and attendance of four of eight academic year general meetings.  Committee service is required.  To ensure continuity each year underclassmen who maintain their eligibility requirements may be invited to continue their membership with the board until graduation.

Committees

The board will consist of committees representing relevant areas of concern such as student programs, industry interaction, website, and marketing of the Center and its programs.  Each committee will have a designated leader who will organize and conduct committee meetings and represent the committee in general meetings.

Scheduled Meetings

The Advisory Board will meet no less than monthly.  Committees may require additional meetings depending upon group agendas as deemed necessary by the leader.
